Woods Visit Panhandle To Tell Of Mission Work In Tanzania

Thursday, July 30th, 2015

WoodsFormer Panhandle residents, Gary and Judy Woods are visiting from Tanzania. They will be at Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday night, Aug. 2, with a slide show presentation of their work among the local tribes of Tanzania. Sandwiches and desserts will be served in the fellowship hall at 6 p.m.

The Woods, along with the Christian Mission Fellowship (CMF), began planting churches in Kenya, Africa, among the Maasai tribe in 1987. In 2004, they moved across the border to Tanzania, empowering Tanzanians to plant churches among unreached tribes there.

The Woods oversee the national church planters who are trained in the CMF Center in Arusha and serve as team leaders. Gary teaches at the Center and goes out in the villages to encourage and mentor new church planters and the churches that are established. He also researches unreached tribes and ways to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ into their areas.

Since 2005, the Woods have trained 70 Tanzanian families, from 22 different tribes, to plant churches. At least 66 churches have been planted and thousands have come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior!

Gary and Judy appreciate all the spiritual and financial support they’ve received through the years from their Panhandle friends.

Join Calvary Baptist Church in welcoming them back and hearing about God’s good work through the Woods and CMF in Tanzania.

Welcome Back POMPOMS!

Thursday, September 12th, 2013

By Dolly Cowan

Princesses on Mission will resume our regular after school Tuesday session on Sept. 17, 2013.

If you’ve not been to a PomPoms’ meeting, or just haven’t been in a long time, no worries! We would love for you to join us.

It’s really just a Junior High girls’ get-together every week for about an hour and a half. We talk about things going on at school, at home, in the world, but we also talk about Jesus and His love for all of us. We discuss Biblical solutions to certain problems and challenges teenage girls often face.

Our mission is spreading the love of God in word and deed. And…we have goodies and Lots of Fun! It’s very relaxed, and there’s no sign up fee. Come and chill out and enjoy some girl time!

Look for the PomPoms’ van outside the Junior High right after school on Tuesday, Sept. 17. We will meet at Calvary Baptist Church located at 803 Maple.
